I believe in the resilience in each person, young or old, and in their potential for change. Sometimes, it is a matter of working through these challenges using a creative lens based on a sound therapeutic approach to discover possibilities, to support growth and to promote transformation. Being able to establish a strong therapeutic alliance and engaging in a therapeutic approach tailored to the individual’s needs is often key to therapeutic change.
My work in psychotherapy began in a domestic violence support centre as a women and child therapist. The bulk of my therapeutic experience was established at a child and youth mental health early intervention counselling centre which offered me training in ongoing counselling practice and crisis support. With personal interest in the creative and performing arts, I developed a passion in combining my skills in both counselling and the arts, and further pursued my therapeutic qualifications in expressive therapy, art therapy, and play therapy.
With 15 years of interest and practice in the area of children and youth mental health, parenting difficulties, relationship challenges, trauma work, family dynamics and changes, neurodevelopmental disorders, cultural differences and gender identity experiences, I challenge myself in engaging with ongoing practice development in various areas of concerns and continue to deepen my professional expertise relevant to the people I support each day.
I bring with me a warm, empathic, and holistic approach in the therapeutic work I offer, drawing on a blend of talk and creative psychotherapeutic methods, honouring respect, a sense of safety, and to hold space for each person I welcome into therapy.
Outside of the therapeutic space, I am a mother to two beautiful and talented girls. I enjoy the beach, music, and the performing arts.
To ensure the delivery of ethical and quality practice, I regularly consult with clinical supervisors in accordance with professional practice guidelines.
I am able to offer therapy in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, and both in-person and on telehealth (excluding children’s therapy).
